GYST’s recipe catalog is 289 recipes. 191 of them were adapted from published collections — mostly USDA’s MyPlate Kitchen and the state nutrition education programs that contributed to it. This page says who wrote what.

We list these because the people who developed these recipes deserve the credit, not because they had anything to do with GYST. Being listed here is not an endorsement — none of the organizations below have reviewed, approved, or partnered with us.

Recipe sources

Ingredients, amounts, and method come from the published recipe. Cooking times, cost estimates, prep-ahead notes, and the descriptions you read in the app are written by us — the original collections don’t record them.

3 imported recipes carry no publisher credit in the original archive. We’d rather say that than guess at one.

The remaining 95 recipes were written in-house for GYST.

Recipe images

289 recipe images in all. 111 of them were generated, not photographed — they are not pictures of real food, and we would rather say so than let a picture imply your dinner is guaranteed to look like it. Each was checked against its recipe’s own ingredient list before it shipped. There is no licence on them and nobody to credit.

The remaining 178 are photographs, used under the licences below. The credits list 209, which is more: where a photograph has been replaced its credit was left in place, because dropping the wrong one would take the credit off a photograph still on the site. It errs long on purpose.

Every image is resized and re-encoded to WebP so it loads quickly on a phone, and cropped to fit its card with CSS. Nothing else about them is changed.
